The Early Years .....
I grew up along the banks of the Blackwater Valley River in North Cork. Looking back now, life on the farm was a wonderful life when we were small.
I can still smell the freshly cut hay and the long, warm summer days we used to have. We had three or four dogs and many litters of kittens as our extended family......
And then the Middle East...
One sunny Sunday morning in May 1997, as I was riding the bus to Earls Court, a ticket slipped from the wallet of the person sitting next to me and dropped onto the floor. At that moment, I would never have imagined that this little ticket would open the doors to the next 28 years of my life’s adventures!
21st October 1997, Emirates flight 397 touched down in Dubai Internaional Airport, five months later!
Life Begins at 60!!
Whitton Place, located in Seaton Delaval, is a small village just a 10-minute drive from Whitley Bay (NE25). The area boasts several natural wonders: cherry blossom trees that bloom with the changing seasons, the vibrant colours of the skies, and breathtaking sunsets and sunrises. The friendly locals, lush green fields, and bright yellow fields of oilseed rape add to the village's charm. In these communities, the saying "every man and his dog" rings true—everyone seems to have a dog!
When we were planning our move from the Middle East and deciding where to live, we had to consider the entire process: buying a house, the glamping stage, shipping logistics, and a 90-day roadmap that includes transport, people, amenities, business, marketing, connectivity, and communication via WhatsApp. Don’t forget to think about seasonal changes, hairdressers, cars, insurance, driving, DBS checks, family, and, of course, dogs.
